What we promise
These five positions are printed in the front of every Habeeya book, before a word of teaching. They are here in the same words, so that you can read them before you decide anything.
About this book
This is a complete term, not a collection of activities. Somebody has decided what comes first, what comes second, and exactly what a parent should say out loud at each point. The lesson is written word for word because that is the part nobody supplies and the part that makes the difference between a plan and an evening that actually happens.
It asks twenty minutes a day of you, four days a week, and one longer family session at the end of the week. That is the honest figure rather than an optimistic one.
On differences among the scholars
Everything taught here is restricted to what the four Sunni schools hold in common. Where the schools differ, we do one of two things. Either the matter is set aside for a later book, or the difference is stated plainly in the sources at the back so that your family can follow its own practice and your child is told that good people who know more than both of us have landed in different places.
We never teach one position while presenting it as the only one. If you find a place where we have, please write and tell us, because that is a defect and we will correct it.
On the Arabic
Every verse appears in full Arabic script, with a transliteration beneath it and a translation beneath that. You are never expected to read the Arabic. It is there so that your child sees it, and so that a parent who does read it is not made to work from transliteration.
If you do not read Arabic, read the transliteration slowly and without worrying about it. Nobody is listening and your child is not being marked.
On the illustrations
No prophet is depicted, in any form, ever. No face is drawn on any human or animal, and there are no featured animate figures. Where a person must be present in a scene they are out of frame, or seen from behind at a distance and unfeatured.
What is drawn instead is architecture, landscape, sky, water, light, textiles, doorways, objects, geometry and calligraphy, and the point of view is your child’s own eye height. We draw the place a thing happened, not the person it happened to.
On the sources
Every Qur’anic verse is referenced by chapter and verse. Every narration is referenced by collection and by grading, and the edition is fixed with the reviewing scholar before the term is numbered, so that the numbers are consistent across the whole book.
Weak narrations are not used, however common they are and however well they would have fitted. Where a well known saying has been deliberately left out, the guide names it and explains why, in a box you cannot miss. Nothing is ever invented. If we could not source something, we cut it.
On review
Nothing ships without review by a qualified scholar. Where content touches a point of difference, or a child is likely to garble something serious, the guide tells you to defer rather than improvise, and carries the correct position at the front of the book rather than buried in a week chapter.
And one more, which is not printed in the books
We will not use urgency against you. There are no countdown timers on this site, no false scarcity, and no discount that expires at midnight. If a term is right for your family it will still be right next week, and we would rather you bought it then.
